Q&A on Police Issues
Q1: During the summer there was no police cover at Leathermarket. The police
said that they could not send officers out due to staff shortages. There are drug
addicts on Tabard Gardens and the Kipling Estate who are injecting in public
and people, especially the elderly, are trapped in their homes out of fear.
A1: Cllr Bassom agreed that this is an issue and NOTED it.

Trinity Church Square
Classic London private square
Railed and gated garden, church access only. Grass, trees and benches. Trinity Square is the most complete and best-preserved square in South London.
At its centre is the magnificent Holy Trinity Church
known as the Henry Wood Hall of 1826, by architect Francis Bedford.
The Square was developed by Trinity House,
the body responsible for in-shore navigation and safety
in the 1820s, and through luck and their careful management it has survived bombs and the redeveloper. http://www.ideal-homes.org.uk/southwark/borough/trinity-church-square.htm
Site 08
Newington Gardens
Public space
Park with grass, paving, trees and benches.
Public.
Horsemonger Lane was built as the Surrey County Gaol, together with a sessions house, by George Gwilt in 1791-9.
There were three wings for criminals and a fourth for debtors. Public executions took place on the roof of the gatehouse,
which could be viewed from the houses in Bath Terrace. It closed in 1878 and was demolished in 1880.
In 1884 part was made into a children's playground. The gatehouse was used by the LCC as a Weights & Measures office for a time.

dancefloor and a staggering roster of big name DJs has made sure of Ministry of
Sound's place in clubbing folklore. The opening night back in 1991 heralded the explosion of superclubs across the UK.

Nine timber benches around and between trees. Two winter occupants. Lemon segments and long, pale, vinegar glistened chillies picked from nearby Cuban bar thrown on ground in piles a short distance from each bench. The Duke of Sussex (public house). Railway sleeper surrounds to trees and the play of water in the adjacent ‘Japanese’ area. Attractive place to consume alcohol in summer.
Site 14
Playground, Chaplin Close
Public play space
One pressed steel bench, blue, in an excellent position to view play equipment organised in a radial layout and to prevent escapes to the road. A small piece of orange peel accompanies a sucked lemon wedge and a bottle top. A long-stay puddle full of leaves has spawned a green mossy fringe. Disfigured tarmac overlooked by houses and hedges.
