We have been mapping a much smaller type of public space that is widely dispersed across every city. Whilst safe and accessible to the public, the excessively uniform and repetitive provision of paving, a waste bin, lighting, a tree and a bench has rendered benchspace so ubiquitous that it has become invisible.

We have commenced an investigation of the benchspace spatial typology to better understand its characteristics and potential. Our research began by mapping three pathways across London, each transversing many different types of place and neighbourhood.
